54’ Hatteras GT Sportfisher Model
Introduced in 2002, the Hatteras 54 was a dramatic departure from earlier Hatteras convertible designs. Aside from her sleek “new-look” styling, the 54 was the first Hatteras convertible to ride on the company’s then-new convex hull form with cored hullsides, shallow keel, and propeller pockets to reduce shaft angles. Below deck, the tasteful interior reflects the practical layout and meticulous finish common to all late-model Hatteras yachts.
Three staterooms are situated on the lower level (V-berths are optional in the bow stateroom), and Hatteras made maximum use of space by extending both the master and second guest stateroom under the salon floor. Each room has its own climate control and entertainment center, and the master stateroom includes a 15-inch flat-screen TV. With nearly 150 square feet of space, the cockpit is up to the demands of any hardcore angler. Topside, the flybridge is designed with a pair of Murray chairs and an optional electronically operated console. A fast ride, the Hatteras 54 will cruise at 30 knots with 1,400hp Caterpillar engines (mid 30s top). With 1,550hp Cats, she’ll reach a top speed of close to 40 knots.

The Hatteras legend began at Cape Hatteras in North Carolina. The area’s unpredictable hurricanes and frigid and turbulent waters were known for some of the best sportfishing in the world.
Willis Shane, knew that no ordinary wooden boat could withstand the elements of the Cape and set out to create a one-of-a-kind yacht. Throwing tradition to the wind, he began the construction of a new kind of sportfisher, a motoryacht that would be made of fiberglass and one which would eventually revolutionize the sportfisher industry. Shane focused on exceptional engineering and using touch materials that would withstand some of the most rugged and robust waters, and kept in mind that the ideal sportfisher would also be large enough to handle a group of fisherman.
Hatteras GT 63 InteriorHe perfected the sportfishing yacht on March 22, 1960, a 41-foot twin cabin sportfisherman with a14-foot beam and a pair of 275-hp Lincoln V-8s named the Knit Wis. Able to excel in some of the most harsh environments without sacrificing performance, it’s no surprise the sportfisher was enthusiastically accepted by the community.
